Since 2012 the Karen Blixen Camp Trust has extended its operations and increased its impact in the Maasai Mara. The focus remains the same though: To protect and develop both wildlife, nature and people - because everything is connected.
From the very beginning, the camp invested in projects that supported local Maasai communities, protected wildlife, and preserved the unique ecosystems of the Maasai Mara. As these initiatives expanded, so did the need for a dedicated organisation to manage and grow their long term impact.
In 2016, the Karen Blixen Camp Trust was officially established as an independent non profit organisation, receiving its Certificate of Incorporation from the Kenyan government. Since then, the Trust has led a growing portfolio of conservation and community initiatives, working alongside local partners to protect the Maasai Mara and create lasting opportunities for future generations.
We are proud to work alongside organisations that share our commitment to conservation and community development. From long term supporters to specialist conservation partners and research institutions, every partnership helps strengthen our impact and secure a sustainable future for the Maasai Mara.
The Maasai Mara Science and Development Initiative believe that facts and science are important to ensure sustainable development of the Maasai Mara.
